The 6th edition of the national campaign celebrating Cypriot Paralympic athletes – Yes, I can – welcomed guests, partners and the city at Eleftheria Square in Nicosia.

Eleftheria Square became a place of courage, dignity and community spirit as the “Yes, I Can” photo exhibition officially opened in Nicosia. The sixth edition of the national social campaign, initiated by the Kateryna Biloruska Foundation (KBF) with the strategic support of the Cyprus National Paralympic Committee (CNPC), brought together athletes, coaches, officials, partners and members of the public.

The afternoon began with Inclusive Sport Activities, where guests tried sport from a new perspective and met the Paralympians in a friendly, hands-on atmosphere. The campaign is not only about looking at portraits, but also about taking part.

The official ceremony was opened by the Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Prountzos, who welcomed guests on behalf of the city. The Municipality of Nicosia joined the campaign as an official partner for this edition.

“We see the strength of the words, “Yes, I can”, brought vividly to life. We see determination instead of doubt. And individuals whose stories remind us that the human spirit is capable of far more than we can often imagine”, said Charalambos Prountzos.

The President of the CNPC, Mr. Andreas Georgiou, also addressed the audience:

“This partnership with the Kateryna Biloruska Foundation allows us to showcase the human side of professional para-sports — the grit, the sweat, and the triumph. This exhibition helps break down social barriers and invites every citizen to celebrate the strength of the Cypriot Paralympic spirit.”

Kateryna Biloruska, Founder of the KB Foundation, also shared a few heartfelt words about what this exhibition means to her and the community.

“Yes, I Can” is not just a slogan. It is a statement of courage and a reminder that every challenge can be turned into an opportunity,” said Kateryna Biloruska. “Each portrait you see here is a story of determination, talent and human dignity. Sport is a universal language and a window to all opportunities. Let this exhibition spark reflection, conversation and empathy, and let it inspire the next generation to say with confidence: Yes, I can.”

The Heroes Among Us

The exhibition features portraits of 14 Paralympic athletes of Cyprus. Several of them attended the opening and spoke with guests about their journeys: Loizos Chrysanthou (para swimming), Kyriakos Demetriou (para archery), Marios Lambrou (para archery), Panagiotis Kkomor (para archery) and Andreas Charalambous (para powerlifting).

“It’s incredible because it promotes knowledge, understanding of what para-athletes actually do and what we go through. Because “Yes, I Can” is not just a slogan, it is a statement of courage, a reminder that every challenge can be turned into possibility”, said Kyriakos Demetriou, Para Archery Athlete.

The CNPC was represented by President Andreas Georgiou, General Secretary Marianna Hadjiandoniou, Vice President Panagiotis Hadjipantelis, board members Demetris Kadis and Maria Savva, Technical Advisor Savvas Lakeridis and Administrator Apostolos Michael.

Six Locations, One Message

Since its launch in the beginning of 2026, the campaign has reached hundreds of thousands of people, with more than 100,000 reached on social media and more than 50,000 through media outlets, plus thousands more offline. Before Nicosia, the exhibition was shown at Larnaka Airport (Hermes Airports), at Molos in Limassol and in three major shopping malls in Nicosia. It also travelled to Greece for the EPSI Annual Conference 2026. The message of inclusion, accessibility and the power of sport as a tool for social change has crossed national borders.

At the end of the ceremony, the Mayor, Kateryna Biloruska, CNPC and the athletes gathered for a symbolic ribbon-cutting photo to mark the official opening. Guests then walked through the exhibition, read the stories behind each portrait and continued the conversation with the athletes and organisers over coffee.

The campaign is implemented with the support of its partners: Hermes Airports Ltd, Sigma TV (Media Partner), the Municipality of Nicosia and the Municipality of Limassol. The photography and video content was created by Michalis Antoniou and Giorgos Charalambous.

The “Yes, I Can” exhibition is open to the public at Eleftheria Square, Nicosia.
